Statement Modern technology has provided me with the materials necessary to render some of my most complex ideas, and also derive my most recent inspirations. My attention has been drawn to fellow painters from the early twentieth century. The art and design produced during the early twentieth century was directly influenced by ongoing technological advances and political unrest at that time. I have found a direct parallel between the art produced during this time period and art that I am producing today. I am responding today to my own interest in technology and to my own political awareness. I believe that the artist should render and conceptualize ideas that people in everyday life may overlook or cannot render for themselves. The artist should have special skills that are sought after by other members of the community and should conduct themselves in a respectful manner. I am trying to make art that is humorous and joyful. I also believe that as an artist, it is my duty to educate others, and I seek my inspiration from God. |
